Add one more template to the EVER increasing basic and boring joomla templates. Skip this one if you really want your website to do better.

Anyone who uses a template

Anyone who uses a template as is "out of the box" has no right calling out the template designers for lack of creativity. Why do you depend on someone else to make an exciting template for you? Why not develop your graphic and CSS skills to take a basic design and make it your own.

When I need inspiration, I come to this site to see templates all in one place. The admin does a good job of supplying screen shots with module positions and layout. I am not concerned with how a template looks as much as the architecture. If I like the module layout, I don't care what the template looks like. I will download it, install it on a test server, put it in firebug and see what I can do to make it a template that pops! If I like the template, I will go buy the template to use on the live site. I am actually a member in several template clubs at any given time.

Another consideration is the Java script compatibility. Whether it is mootools, jquery or another flavor of javascript not all templates are created equal. For example, some templates from YooTheme break if you try to use jquery tools such as highslide.

Lastly, I consider the horizontal menu system. If It can incorporated in my site with or without modifications i will use the template.

Here are couple of real world examples of taking a template, deconstructing it and rebuilding it:

http://www.bartending-schools.com is actually Yoo Pulse with a modified menu and layout changes to accomodate the background / header.

http://www.bartending.org is actually JA Cooper.

I am not impressed by sites that I can browse and tell within seconds what template it is. I am impressed by website builders that take something and make it their own.

This paticular template has a good layout. I do not have a need for it now, but who knows one day when i have a project in mind, it might be what I need.
